Diamond Head…

dh-thnailThis picture of Diamond Head (Le’ahi) was taken from Lagoon Drive the south side of Honolulu International Airport. One of Hawaii’s famous landmarks, Diamond Head is known for it’s beautiful costal views and hiking trail. The hiking trail to the summit was built in 1908 as part of Oahu’s coastal defense system. It’s just one of Hawaii’s most visited trails. Its English name was given by British sailors in the 19th century, who mistook calcite crystals embedded in the rock for diamonds.

I’m no photographer but I just bought myself a digital camera to take snapshots for my new blog. This is one of my first pictures that I took and I’m sure it will get better and more interesting as I gain more experience through my persistence.
